Are handmade soaps good for skin?
Yes, a big benefit of handmade soaps is skipping various fillers and harsh chemical ingredients, leaving you with soap packed with only healthy high quality ingredients.
I focused my recipe on ingredients that have been long standing staples in the soap making community, while also making sure each ingredient plays a role in your overall skin health.
My soaps largest ingredient is olive oil. This powerhouse ingredient is suitable for all skin types (including sensitive skin.) With its high concentration of Oleic acid, olive oil also helps to soften and condition your skin. If that wasn't enough reason to love it, olive oil also helps the overall hardness of the soap bar. Why does that matter? Harder bars will last for more washes!
Ethically sourced organic palm oil is up next. Palm oil helps give the soap more lather, and also loves your skin. It can help with acne, is moisturizing, keeps skin soft, and helps with the negative effects of sun damage.
Coconut oil pairs nicely with palm oil to pack in extra vitamins and encourage moisturizing. It also helps with making that lather extra bubbly.
Sweet almond oil is well known for its ability to soften skin and is a favorite for massage therapists for as it is slow absorbing and lightweight. In soap, it helps to soften and condition the skin. Rich in proteins it will help soothe irritated and dry areas.
A dash of castor oil adds even more lathery goodness and helps attract all those great moisturizing oils to the skin.
Long story short, handmade soap is terrific for the skin and super bubbly too!
